“ Come here daddy we saved you a spot.” My oldest daughter says while I crawl up on the bed to quickly fall backward on my back
Serena comes climbing on my chest while Karen and Lindsey get on either side of me. The boys find a spot to sleep getting comfortable copying their sisters and in Lil Heath’s case..his cousins.
“ Daddy Heath you ok?” Serena asks sounding concerned
“ Yes, just some things going on that has me annoyed.” I say getting nods
“ Oh ok, is there anything we can do?” Karen asks making me think
“ Actually maybe there is. Do you guys want to keep playing along with the mommies and Kevin?” I ask getting sparkling eyes
“ Sure.” They all say in unison
“ Ok there is a old friend of mine coming tomorrow. She is a very caring woman that has liked me for a while now. I saved her back in college. I would like you all to be extra nice to her. Can you all do that for me?” I explain while they all look at one another then to me
“ Yes, what’s her name daddy?” Lindsey asks with a look of wonder
“ Kendra.” I say responding to her
“ That’s a pretty name daddy. Will she be a new mommy?” Karen asks making me think
“ Well she wants to be, but she is afraid that the other mommies won’t let her be.” I say getting upset looks
“ They’re not our mommies daddy. They hurt you just like mommy did. Was it true that mommy played a mean joke on you?” Karen asks getting a nod from me
“ That is mean of her to do.” Lindsey says getting another nod
“ Yes, but they are still your mothers. Look I still love each of them, but they are not thinking of the consequences. Don’t be mad at them all that long ok.” I say seeing nods
“ Ok daddy, but next time they hurt you I am using Mr. Iron Pan.” Karen says getting laughs
“ Ok honey, now can daddy get some sleep I been up to dang long?” I ask getting a nod
“ Ok daddy get some sleep. We will protect you right guys?” Karen says getting nods
“ Thank you, goodnight my little warriors.” I say getting hugs and kisses on my cheeks
I wrap my arms around Serena who lets out a sigh. Karen and Lindsey cuddle up to me. I close my eyes with a smile on my face because my kids all love me. I hear slow breathing fill the room. I don’t think anything in this world could take me away from the little munchkins in the room. I love all my kids since they are my world now besides those that are my true family. Before I doze off I hear a sweet beautiful voice that can only be Kendra telling me ‘ Goodnight my sweet prince’.
The next morning I woke with Tina Faye and MaggieMay both crying. I had Serena get off me in which she did. I crawled off the bed making my way to my daughters. Each one looked up at my eyes with arms up. I picked them both up to only hold them close to me.
“ Shhh my little Latinas daddy is here.” I say while they continue cry
“ Daddy they might be hungry. Mommie Jasmine has milk in the fridgy.” Karen tells me wiping her eyes
“ Ok honey, why don’t you get back to bed. It’s only six in the morning.” I say making my way to the bedroom door
“ No daddy let me help you. I’m their big sister so it’s my job to feed my sissies.” Karen says looking up at me
“ Ok honey lets go feed your sisters before the other ones wake up.” I say getting a smile
Karen and I made our way down to the kitchen. She raced me down beating me. She opened the fridge getting the two bottles of milk out. She went to the microwave that was low enough for her. It was a cute sight to see. I just couldn’t help but smile while I held two of my youngest daughters. The microwave went off and Karen opened the door getting the bottles out. She tested each one before having me sit on the couch. She placed the bottles on the coffee table before sitting by me.
“ Ok daddy hand me MaggieMay while you have Tina.” She says surprising me
I did like she asked only to very carefully hand MaggieMay to Karen. She held her little sister like a pro. I reached for a bottle handing it to her. She took it placing the nipple to Maggie’s mouth. I took the other to do the same to Tina. I watched while both started to feed on the milk.
“ That’s it sissies drink up so you can grow and then we can play dollies.” Karen says with being a big sister
“ You really love your siblings don’t you honey?” I ask getting a smile
“ Yes I do daddy. I plan to never do what Auntie Michelle and Uncle Travis did to you. I plan to protect them all my life.” She says bringing a tear to my eyes before she continues “ Don’t cry daddy please. Us kids love you and each other. We won’t ever hurt each other. And besides we’re your little warriors.”
I just smiled with a nod while Tina placed her little left hand on my chest.
“ Awww are you agreeing with your big sister.” I asked Tina to get a giggle from Karen
It felt nice holding Tina since I’ve been gone. Out of all the babies Tina has so far been the loud one. I thought if anyone hurt her she will let them know. As for MaggieMay she is a quiet baby except when she is hungry or had a dirty diaper. Karen started to hum while feeding MaggieMay. I thought it was cute seeing how she was only five and being a devoted sister. Karen and I spent the morning taking care of the other babies feeding and changing diapers. The other kids woke up around seven o’clock coming down to see the babies on the floor resting quietly. They went to give each one a kiss on the forehead. The boys took it upon themselves to sit on the floor by the babies like protecting them. I thought that was very cute. The girls and I started breakfast with me making coffee in which I showed the girls how to in case they wanted to surprise us adults. Serena although clung to me like usual to help me. It was very warming having three beautiful daughters helping me. We all talked about the day. They were somewhat excited about meeting Kendra. Serena especially since she wanted another auntie-mommy. We made enough for everyone: pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy. I was so proud of Karen, Lindsey, and Serena because each one did very good.
It wasn’t long before all the family started to come to the kitchen. The ladies were surprised to see us up. The godmoms asked what was the occasion. I said I just felt like making breakfast and had three little helpers. They smiled thanking us for the surprise. My wives and loves came down asking why the babies were up. I explained to only get wide eyes from them all. Jasmine commented what has changed me. I told her I did a lot of thinking, and thought I needed to change my attitude on everything. She looked at me concerned.
“ Does…does that mean towards us too baby?” She asks with worry and hope in her eyes
“ I guess that depends on how you all behave. Like I said last night all the little hurtful things need to stop. I don’t want to always turn around and be hurt. I am not going to put up with it anymore. If any of you don’t like how things are then move on. I love all of you, but I am tired of being hurt.” I exclaim getting nods
“ Heath’s right girls. Look I was also another that hurt him and you all. It took my family leaving me to make me open my eyes. I agree with Heath if things are not how you like then find another.” Nick says speaking up
“ Uncle Nick why are you suggesting us to leave?” Renee asks sounding hurt
“ I’m not. I was just saying.” He says answering his niece
“ We know and we don’t want anyone else except Heath.” Jessie Lee says looking at him with tears
“ Heath we’re sorry for the voting thing but Tiffany hurt you baby.” Allison says also in tears
“ I know but I already knew it was a joke. How can she learn not to play with my feelings like she did if she is not here?” I state asking seeing shrugs
“ True she can’t but I am sure she will be home sometime today.” Diamond says with a sad look
“ What’s wrong with you my shining Diamond?” I ask seeing her look away
“ Nothing baby just afraid I am losing you over all this mess.” She says surprising me
“ Diamond come here please.” I say and she comes over to me to only look up in my eyes
I place my right arm around her.
“ You are not losing me. I love you and the others. I love Tiffany it’s just she can’t threaten me like she did by using Kevin. So what else is wrong?” I ask her seeing her turn to look at Jasmine
“ I sort of said some hurtful things yesterday to her. I said it was a mistake having her join us.” Jasmine tells me while I shake my head
“ See that’s what I am talking about. It doesn’t matter when I get hurt others do to. I want us to never hurt the other.” I state seeing my family agree
“ Well I sort of tried to vote myself out too baby.” Diamond tells me while I look at her hurt
“ See that would hurt me Diamond. I don’t want to lose any of my wives or my loves that are HERE. We took a vow to always be each other’s strength when we needed it. Remember?” I say seeing them nod with a small smile
“ So what now baby? Can you forgive us for what we did?” Hannah asks being very worried
I let Diamond go while everyone of them look at me. The rest of my family and kids continue eating. I still feel a bit upset that these women I loved would do something against my will. I know they are sorry for what they did but how many times have I heard that one.
” Hannah I could forgive and probably will but I think you all need to do some thinking. I mean it’s one thing to talk things out. But then turn around and try to vote them out of the family. Come on that is so wrong.” I say seeing sadness in their eyes
” Your right Heath .What we did was totally wrong and uncalled for, but we vowed to protect your heart.” Hannah says while the others nodded agreeing
